Scholastic aptitude test for Bachelor’s Programmes in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

Welcome to the BT-STEM

The BT-STEM (Scholastic Aptitude Test for Bachelor’s Programmes in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is a test for detection of the abilities that are necessary for successful completion of a Bachelor’s course in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The test has an overall duration of approx. 3,5 hours and consists of four groups of exercises:

  • Mathematical Knowledge
  • Formalising Scientific Facts
  • Understanding Abstract Rule-Based Systems
  • Interpreting Scientific Depictions.

The BT-STEM may be taken in German or English.

The first test version of BT-STEM has been completed and is currently undergoing empirical testing. BT-STEM will be available to universities and prospective students from 2019.

The registration phase for BT-STEM starts on 08 April 2019 (9:00 am). Then you can register here for the BT-STEM.

With the BT-STEM, we provide universities with a structured and standardized selection criterion that places the same demands on all and offers a means of compensating for the lack of comparability of school-leaving-examination grades. The BT-STEM combines three tried-and-tested study-field-specific ability modules with one knowledge module. This state-of-the-art test can be used to assess academic aptitude and improve the prognosis of study success. Stephan Stegt
